The second annual 35 Over 35 List was unveiled this week, and among the excellent 2015 selections is Margaret Malone's People Like You!
Created in 2014 by writer Kera Yonker and publicist Sarah Russo, the 35 Over 35 List is designed to spotlight remarkable debut books by authors over 35 years of age -- an answer to a publishing industry with no shortage of awards and distinctions honoring early success. Many of the authors on the 35 Over 35 List, say the list's creators, "have kept their day jobs longer, clocked more
hours in workshops, and received more rejection letters than their
younger peers, and still they write." As David Ulin wrote last year in a wonderful L.A. Times article about 35 Over 35, "the real point is to look beyond the labels by which we categorize literary work."
